Who can participate?
In order to participate all you need is a promising idea and registering at the online platform for the competition (entries now closed).
The six applicable categories as defined by Cleantech Open are the following:
- Air, water and waste.
- Energy efficiency.
- Renewable energy.
- Energy storage and supply.
- Clean transportation.
- Sustainable building.

How can I participate?
Entry process.
- Go to the entry platform (entries are now closed).
- sure you comply with all the requirements:
- The competition is for startups developing clean technologies created in the past five years, or entrepreneurs with a promising business idea.
- All projects must be able to fit in at least one of the categories previously mentioned.
- Projects must not have received external private funding over 1,000,000 USD
- The legal representative for the company must be over 21 years of age.
- Fill in the form.
- Wait to receive an e-mail confirming your entry.
Selection of the best ideas.
The jury members for Cleantech Open Spain are prestigious independent professionals from the sector, innovators, academics and companies that work with clean technologies. The evaluation process consists of two rounds:
- Online evaluation and selection of ten finalists.
- Final round, live mentoring session and selection of the winning project at the competition final.
When?
The deadline for entering the third edition of Cleantech Open Spain is July 2, 2012.

Why participate?
- - Funding: The finalists will participate in the European Investor Connect and the winning company will also participate in the Global Investor Connect, where it will have the opportunity of meeting specialized investors.
- - Networking: Meeting with other companies in the sector, large corporations, business angels, investors, public institutions, etc.
- - Education: Cleantech Open gives finalists the opportunity of attending mentoring and training sessions.
- - Visibility: Information on the finalists will appear in the media. Publication in Technology Review in Spanish.
Prizes
The ten finalists will receive a mentoring session at the final in Pamplona on September 27 by a prestigious panel of judges formed by entrepreneurs, professionals from the sector and venture capital investors who will be in charge of evaluating participants’ ideas and projects. Also, all finalists can participate in the European investor Connect which will be held on October 18 and 19 2012 and attend a mentoring session from a law firm.
The winner for the national competition will be announced at the award ceremony that will take place in September.
On top of that, the national winner for each country will have the opportunity of travelling to San Francisco and competing with the winners of all participating countries at the global final. The winner will also be able to present his or her idea at the award ceremony in front of 2,500 investors, entrepreneurs, large corporations, academics and media. The winning project will also receive 10 hours of legal advice from a law firm.
The winner of the global final will be awarded a series of services valued in 100,000 dollars to help getting his or her business idea started as well as broad media coverage for the project.
